Grassy Creek Mystery Quilt

My how time fly's. Another year with another mystery quilt.
                I do love Bonnie Hunter's Mystery's. I don't know what I would be doing
with my self If I had not found her. She was working on Easy Street mystery
when I first found her blog, or Facebook not really sure which it was.
I changed out some of the colors on this years. Not enough of gray on hand
so I went with brown. Trying to use up what I have on hand.
I know I won't live long enough to use all this fabric.
Since I haven't been out doing much shopping it just made sense.

This years Is called Grassy Creek.

I finished up three quilts since last Nov, not wanting to wait until things got really bad so that we could not go anywhere, my sister and I decided we would take a trip to BJ'S Quilting in McMinnville TN.

This is the quilt I had made for her..... as soon as we got back to my house we took photos before she had to leave my hubby and her was holding it as best they could the wind was fighting them. This  is a free pattern at quiltville.blogspot.com this is the second one I have made both were given to sisters. Name is Pineapple Blossom Debbie's Quilt.

I also has my Bonnie Hunter mystery quilt Frolic quilted so they tackled the wind again for me. I had two other quilts quilted, Will have to get photos of them at another time.

I Have Been Gifted

I have to show you what I have been gifted. I told about my dear aunt that passed away last month. She was a quilter like myself.

Her daughter brought me all her fabric, patterns, sewing machine attachments, needles, threads....just everything she had. Quilting books too. One of her sewing machines.

The cabinet she had wouldn't fit her machines so my hubby fixed it for her a few years back.
There were three totes. This one had patterns of dolls she had cut out of fabric already. She loved to do applique.

Wasn't that sweet of her daughter. She wanted me to take the industrial machine she had it was so heavy that I had to pass. I would never be able to move it. So I advertised it for her to sell.
Someone  advertising for a quilter on our trading post. They brought it. Worked out good.

Crumb Quilt

I made a trip to BJ'S quilting on the day my dear aunt was found, she had just went there the week before her passing.

I had four quilts quilted that day and when I got home I got a call about her and hasn't thought about my quilts.

So I will share one of them today. I gifted it to a sister. Ruby's Quilt.
Had already gave two sister's a quilt. Then one wanted me to set her's '' she had made'' together so I did then I had it quilted for her.

Well after she saw this one I got a call from her saying I need to make her one. Lol so I guess I have one more to do.

This is called a Crumbs Crumbs Crumbs quilt. One of Bonnie Hunters free patterns.

I also had my mystery quilt quilted from this pass year.

It has been finished for a while. I waited until I had all that I was going to do this year up until the next mystery comes out in Nov.
A little tall for the hubby to hold up lol.

Now I have another one to make before the mystery comes out for a sister....maybe I will get it done by then.

My Buddy Is Gone

I have been very lazy in my bloging this year. Have had some bad times I am going to blame it on this don't really know the reason. My dad passed away in April then my Aunt Marbrey passed away the second of this month. She was my talking buddy, quilting buddy. I have shared a lot of her quilts here on my blog. I have one last one to share she just had it quilted the week before she was gone.

It was layed out at her funeral so I took a picture. Don't guess I would have ever seen it other wise. I told her I would put it on facebook for her when she had it done and so I did. She was 79 in June my dad was 88. She did love to make quilts, As I do.
A picture of her and my mother, she is in the red  my mother has been gone almost 8 years now.

Take care

Boy It's Hot

Is it hot where you are. We haven't went anywhere this year it's just too uncomfortable for me. Hoping to later on.
Wanted to go to the Grand Canyon, after seeing the fires they were having in the adjoining states with all the smoke and the heat, I changed my mind.

Well the only thing to do is stay inside and sew. So that's what I have done. Started a quilt for my little great granddaughter.
I know I have already shown it once, have done a little more work on it. I showed it to her.

Well she saw Dora fabric laying in my sewing room and wouldn't you know that was what caught her eye, So you know how that went, we grandma's have to please.

Now the quilt has Dora in it.
Thanking about ordering more Dora to put a Border on with. Has very little fabric left after putting it in Libby's Quilt.

Her birthday isn't til Nov so I have a little time. What I am thinking is I would like to go to Marshalls Dry Goods on my way to grand canyon. I could just order it.
Signing out for now take care God Bless.

Sister's Quilts

Winter is setting in. I don't like cold weather lol but then I don't like hot either, wonder how many feel this way. Glad to still be here to enjoy them though.

Quilting as you can guess is my pass time its just about all this old lady can do anymore, even house work is getting the best of me.

Started working on the next Mystery Quilt...second clue came out today.

I wanted to finish up my other quilts before doing the MQ.

These are quilts I have made for my sisters. This one is the youngest sister Regina's hasn't been gifted yet, just had them quilted yesterday.
Bonnie Hunter's pattern Pineapple Blossom.
Two people holding it up so big I couldn't get it all
in the picture.

This one is Debbie's she made the blocks and ask me to set it together, so I had it quilted for her as her gift. Didn't make her a quilt but next to the same thing. Hope she feels that way anyways.

I had posted this one before, Gifted it to sister Martha
I call it my Scrappy Granny Square.

This little ugly quilt was something I just started on and kept adding to using up all the scraps from about four different quilts
On well it will keep someone warmer.

Same here I had blocks that were left overs from a quilt                     my aunt had made. Four hole ones and four half blocks
I took the half blocks apart and made stars.
                May just
use this one myself for a lap quilt.
Carpenter Wheel is the block name. Gifted to a great niece.

Mystery Quilt

The En Provence mystery quilt I have been working on. I still have border's to add when I can come up with one. Don't know how long that is going to take. I am very slow these days.

So I am going to share what I have gotten done. I know my posts are too few these days. This old gal just doesn't have the get up and go she once had. LOL still kicking guess that's all that matters.

Been in the bed last few days with something. Coughing my head off. Called the doctor's office today they couldn't get me in. He's out tomorrow so I have one for Wed. Hoping it will be better and I won't have to go.

Been to sick to see my great grand baby's. I hate that, she wanted me to keep them last Friday and I couldn't. Maybe they will come over this next week. Hope all is well in your world. Will visit when I get to feeling better.

En Provence

My progress has been small to say the least. This is what has been going on with the Bonnie Hunter Mystery Quilt.

First two clue's I worked on.

First two blocks done on to the third one
I had to buy another seam ripper on this quilt top
so far lol.

To much going on to get to do
much sewing. A new great grand baby for one.
I am going with scraps on this one so it is taking more time
there are over 3,000 pieces in this top.

I do like it so far. Going to take my time.
See if I can't do better on my points. I can see a few still that I need to redo.
To see what other are sharing you can go here.

Finished Quilt Top

Finished the top I was working on. Not quilted yet thinking I will wait on that for a while. Maybe until I get another one done.
Unless I decide to quilt this one myself. Usually have them done, hate to make the trip for just one quilt its a two hour drive one way.

A close up of the fabric.
Six of the fabrics used were left from making my step grandsons
quilt. I have been waiting until  I could come up with something to
make with them. Sometimes it takes me a while to vision it in my head. The other fabrics I used in my other quilts. This is as big as I could go. I have used it all up except the black. I don't know if it needs a border or not if I do decide to do one I will use the black.

Its the prefect crib size without a border forty five by fifty four.
I am going to have a new great grandson in Dec on that's this month. Wow guess he will get it even tho my aunt Marbery has already made him one.....I don't think I have shown it.

Mystery Quilt

I have been thinking of joining Bonnie over at Quiltville in the making of her Mystery Quilt. It has already started.

I have a quilt I am working on that needs to be finished before I can get started on another. THE TOP THAT IS

I don't like leaving my quilt tops unfinished for some unknown reason.  Had one I didn't finish and it set for years so now I finish them lol.

These are the colors she has picked. Pretty don't you think.

A Birthday Quilt

I have already shown this quilt here, that was before I had it quilted.
I have been waiting to show it because I made it for a birthday present for my great grand's daddy.

His birthday is the twenty ninth of this month. He will never suspect that I would make him a quilt.
He used my grand daughters all the time so I thought that would be something he would like.

I used as many of the same fabric's as I could of the quilt I made my grand daughters here.
The blue and white border is what I backed hers and her sister's in I also used it in the front of her quilt. Its a snowflake fabric that I got for 49 cents a yard about seven years ago and it has come in handle.  This quilt didn't cost me anything but my time and getting it quilted.
As you can see this is quite late. I had it set to show last Wednesday so I thought. Well that didn't happen.

Doug's Quilt

I finished the Hubby quilt. Had it quilted today so I wanted to share.
I used the The Big Star Pattern from Missouri Star Quilt Company.

Using up what fabric I had on hand. I even used different backgrounds in the blocks with black sashing and border.

Never know how they turn out until completed. I'm just a patchwork quilt lover all the way.

He said it was the prettiest one I had ever made.

It is a square 91x 91. If I had put another row on it I don't think that would have looked good because it would have been way to long being as the blocks are so big.

Now to start on another one. I like to finish one before starting another. I am thinking a string quilt next have never made one.

God Bless Trish

Baby Quilt Is Finished

I took a little trip today. I went with my Aunt too
B J's Custom Quilting & Fabric

In McMinnville Tn

We had three quilts each to have quilted.
My baby quilt I made for the great grand is finished.

I will give it to her for her first birthday. Her Mom & Dad are planing her a big party. One she won't remember but they will.

If you ever need a quilt quilted you could mail it to them.

I took a picture of them quilting another quilt.

My aunt made this house quilt, then traded it to me for fabric.
She traded two quilts for fabric. One of them was already quilted.
Have a great day.

A Quilt & A Valance

Searching the web for a quilt chart, Crazy Mom Quilts came up. What a nice chart. I want to keep it handy by sharing it, you can also benefit from it.

I had started a small baby quilt with appliqué cats on it. Wasn't to sure about giving it to the baby, my piece of mind was at stake.

You can view that post here if you would like.
I will finish it LATER for a wall hanging.

For the twin size, going simple, just buying the fabric and quilting it.  I was looking for bunnies when I found this. Years from now Lily will never know that Great Granny was looking for bunnies because of Easter.

Bordering it with the pink and white. Laid it out to measure. Will iron it.

LET ME ASK A FAVORITE!
As sure as I am about the quilt fabric.
I am not sure about this fabric.

I picked it out for a Valance
for my kitchen. It's a beautiful piece.
I hung it up on a tension rod to see what I thought.

What I want to know is what you think... please tell it like it is.
First I was going with a black and white check then I found this.
This fabric is more me... however not sure its for the kitchen.
Its just hanging ...no sewn yet.

Hubby just now ask me to set this out.
He likes his soft.
Think I'll have some too.

I am eating mine as I type. Hubby is back for more.

So so good!
