My Buddy Is Gone

I have been very lazy in my bloging this year. Have had some bad times I am going to blame it on this don't really know the reason. My dad passed away in April then my Aunt Marbrey passed away the second of this month. She was my talking buddy, quilting buddy. I have shared a lot of her quilts here on my blog. I have one last one to share she just had it quilted the week before she was gone.

It was layed out at her funeral so I took a picture. Don't guess I would have ever seen it other wise. I told her I would put it on facebook for her when she had it done and so I did. She was 79 in June my dad was 88. She did love to make quilts, As I do.

Sister's Quilts

Winter is setting in. I don't like cold weather lol but then I don't like hot either, wonder how many feel this way. Glad to still be here to enjoy them though.

Quilting as you can guess is my pass time its just about all this old lady can do anymore, even house work is getting the best of me.

Started working on the next Mystery Quilt...second clue came out today.

I wanted to finish up my other quilts before doing the MQ.

These are quilts I have made for my sisters. This one is the youngest sister Regina's hasn't been gifted yet, just had them quilted yesterday.

This one is Debbie's she made the blocks and ask me to set it together, so I had it quilted for her as her gift. Didn't make her a quilt but next to the same thing. Hope she feels that way anyways.

This little ugly quilt was something I just started on and kept adding to using up all the scraps from about four different quilts 
On well it will keep someone warmer.  
                                   
             


                 Same here I had blocks that were left overs from a quilt                     my aunt had made. Four hole ones and four half blocks                 
               I took the half blocks apart and made stars.
                May just
               use this one myself for a lap quilt.

Genealogy

Well folks I tried making a header. I'm not thrilled with it, will leave it for now.
 The quilts are all mine I have made for family, mostly grand kids. If you were interested to who they were given too you can look under quilts at the top of my page. 

I have been dabbing in genealogy lately. I have a site on Ancestry.com. My dads sister got me into it she has been working in it for a few years. This is her grandmother and grandfather on her dads side. My dads as well.

                    These are some very old photos. Not that anyone would be interested in this 
                     just more are less for myself. Delia & John are my grandfathers parents.

This is my grandfather Arthur on the left and his brother James.

             My great grandmother Delia and her four boys, she died when I was 3. They thought I should remember her, I don't. 
Not a very good picture, still good to have it. The boys are named in order the second is my grandfather he died when I was 15.Two months later my grandmother died on her birthday.

           His wife raised them by herself. I'm thinking he was shot. 

My Pillow

I want to show what my granddaughter made for me on Mothers day. Over the years I have wrote about my granddaughter that came to live with us when she was sixteen.
She has a baby girl now that is so precious to us, we kept her yesterday while her mom and dad moved. 

Here is my pillow that Alicia made me.

Hello to everyone. Christmas being over I think its time I posted something so you don't still have to see my tree.

We are having a bit of a bad time here, this is why I haven't posted.

I believe I posted about Doug having surgery's. He has had two one on his neck in October then a hip replacement in December.

He gave up smoking in October the day he had surgery.

In Dec about two weeks after surgery he started having a hard time breathing so the Doctor ordered a test on his lungs.

The insurance has not ok'ed it, now this is two weeks ago today.

So we are going back to the Doctor today to get a x-ray.

Birthday Girl

Hello Everyone. Its been a while. Hope all is well and you have all been blessed this Thanksgiving. We stayed home. I cooked, it was just me and hubby.

Later in the day I baby sit for my great granddaughter so her mom could go to the black Friday sells. I have been baby setting one day a week while she worked it was just a part time some of the time her daddy kept her on his days off.

These last two days she has been here. She is just so precious. I'm a bit old for handing a little one but I love it. This old hen she ant what she use to be.

She has a first birthday last month. I gave her the quilt I made. She had a tough of war going when they tried to take it away from her she wanted to laid down on it right away.          

Her mom made the outfit. She painted the number one on her shirt

then made the tutu at my house. I still have glitter show up. lol

 She had the best time.

Hubby's Surgery

Life around here has had its up and downs. For months hubby has been going to doctors first for his hip.Working has been very hard on him. Then for his neck.

About four years ago he started having neck pain, went to a doctor in Nashville Tn. He was told he would have to live with it. The doc said they had found  that surgery for this wasn't really necessary. That was hard to hear. At the time I didn't believe him. I have a bother that had this surgery, it helped him a lot.

After seeing about his hip. We made a appointment with a doctor for his neck in the same office. They did a X Ray then a MRI. This man said he had two disk that were just gone. What did we want to do about it. We said we wanted it fixed.

He had surgery last week on the fourteenth. This doctor had a time getting the Insurance to pay, he finally got them to ok it.

Hubby is having a very hard time getting over the surgery right now. I think he will be glad he had it done in the long run, he had several pinched nerves.

We think it may have had something to do with his hip pain. Not sure about that yet. His arm pain is gone and he has had only one headache so far. He was having terrible headaches.

So I have not been in a mood to try and write post lately. Hope when he gets better life can get back to some kind of normal.

My Mother

Happy Mothers Day To All Mothers. Yesterday was my Mother's Birthday & to day Is Mothers Day.

I made her the only thing I could. A saddle of Flower's...pretty yellow ones. Bet she is having a marvelous day where she is now.

I tried my hand at this, it turned out ok. She would have like it, she was always trying her hand

at this. She had a friend that had a flower shop, worked for her sometimes.

Would have been eighty yesterday.

Was seventy five when she left for her new home.

                                      Mother of nine I am the oldest, only sixteen years between us.

Update Of My Week

A week ago today was when I wrote this.....my computer would not let me add photos. Since then I have redone the computer twice so I will go ahead and post this even if it is a little late. I had to download chrome to be able to see bloggers I could not see anyone else's blogs either....so if this gives me anymore fits I will have to buy a new computer.

I just have gotten home from helping my older lady friend....I packed up a few boxes for her, she will be moving to a assisted living in Pa in a few weeks up closer to her grandson.

I took her to the doctor Monday.

Monday I told her I couldn't go anywhere Tuesday because it was my husbands birthday....to wait until Wednesday I would take her to the eye Dr. to get her glasses adjusted.

I am doing this to keep her from driving.

Tuesday she went to the eye Dr. herself then to Walgreens then to the grocery store. She does what she wants.

So she called me to take her to the Dr. Wednesday because her Medical Dr. tells her not to drive, she said to me little does he know I drove yesterday and I think I am fine to drive but he will fuss at me. lol so I took her. Then she wanted my help packing, now tomorrow she wants to go to get her hair done.

So my days are full trying to keep her off the road so she doesn't get in a wreck before she gets moved, that would just be horrible, she has already fallen while at Wal-Mart two weeks ago.  Was in the hospital had a hugh knot on her head with a black eye. I can tell she has forgotten a lot since this has happen...she tells me she doesn't remember giving her grandson authority over her. I do remember her doing this. I hope all is well here until he can get her moved she doesn't need to be living by herself anymore.

Today she gave me this, said her mother gave it to her, she said she would like for me to have it. Its so tiny, doesn't look it in the photos. Its about 3.5 inches high 4'' wide with handles.

Good Morning

I am a early bird this morning, very early for me. I got up hungry, hubby still sleeping so I don't want to cook this early, what can I snack on.

Would you believe this is what I am having this early in the morning, well its a first for me...its good...its hot... so more chips then salsa.

 I can't do anything or else wake the hubby, believe me that is easy to do, never thought of it when I wanted to down size. Well there is a lot I didn't expect to happen moving to town.

 Out in the country there was no noise ordnance( hope I spelled that right.) I had to listen to loud music and I hated it.

Well in town there is suppose to be a noise ordnance I was told, this was one reason I moved to town. Well its not doing any good, loud music across the street when the child drives home, it will wake the dead. Yesterday morning a car in back of us being ribbed up working on it I guess...nerve racking... I have a problem with noise... I can hear to good I guess. lol 

This morning the trash truck, could hear it for a block. We live on a Ave, would you believe the school is at the end of the next Ave and the mornings are so busy can hear ever car that goes down our street and there are lots of them.

I am beginning to wonder if my little house is going to outway the noise. What a shame.
I didn't know I was going to tell all this when I started writing....well I don't have anyone else to tell it to. Sorry.

I went and seen my great grand last evening. This is her and her dads mom. She looks like her dad.

Birthday Presents

My birthday was back in Nov. My grand daughters Emma & Libby made these for me.
Since moving I have hunted something they would fit in, found the shadow boxes at wally world.

They only had one of the biggest ones, I waited a few weeks hoping they would get more in, gave up and went with the small one.  I have just gotten then framed and hung today.

I had to show you what my sweet little girls did for me. Love them & their gifts.

My Bedroom

I've warmed up my coffee cup, now to show you my bedroom...its cold out side, going to get colder. We have really been blessed,  unlike a lot of you with all the snow. The sleet and snow is on its way with temps in the teens.

We should stay nice and warm with our new bed cover. I did try and iron some of the wrinkles out. Its just out of the box. No headboard yet haven't gotten one since we went up to a king.

I know my lamp shades that grand daughter got me for my birthday does not go to well with this.

Everything on the mantel was gifts to me my son gave me the hummingbird, mother in law the lamp,
can't remember who gave me the dolls want to say it was a grand, hubby the blue and white dolls.

This trunk was my Aunt Rachel's. I brought it from her before she went into the nursing home. Its
mostly sentimental value to me.

 The picture above the mantel is the same as well, a dear lady friend of mine went to the nursing home as well, all her things were sold at auction, I bid on this one and got it.
She told me she had it painted and paid 1500.00 dollars for it, its of the fishermen's wharf in San Francisco. She had a lot of painting that she paid lots of money to have done. I only wanted one because it was hers. Lots of people that bid on the painting have no idea what she paid for them and got them for nothing.  Bless her heart she has no idea she ever owned them, she will be 87 this year. I still go and see her. 
She has a sister that will be 91 this year she still drives , when she needs to go out of town I take her.

To everyone that has left me a comment I am sorry I can not rely to them, my email was cut off when I moved and I didn't have a new one for ten days. I have now changed to a new email. 

I appreciate all your comments. We have been working on hanging pictures today. It is raining here and has been since the first, that means fifteen day this month.
