The Carpenter's Wheel

More of the Carpenters Wheel blocks to share with you.
My aunt is making these.
I showed two others in earlier post. She has only three more to go.

I have been seeing the swoon block all over blog land.

I had been thanking of making the Swoon Block. That was before I made my granddaughters quilt using the carpenters wheel pattern. I found it on the net and enlarged the pattern to make the whole quilt to look like one of the blocks above.
You can see Libby's Quilt here.

To make Libby's quilt I cut 8 1/2 inch blocks, then cut them diagonally sewing the triangles together. I cut the solid blocks 7 1/2.

Wish I thought of this method when doing Libby's quilt.

When I started cutting the fabric for my aunts nine blocks, it came to me how to save her time and sewing.
I had watched this on a video. I love watching the Missouri Quilt Company Tutorials.

Pattern To Make The Carpenter's Wheel
To make this 24 inch block using three colors.

I cut 16 white 3 1/2 inch squares
I cut 8 white 5 3/8 squares
I cut 8 yellow 5 3/8 squares
I cut 8 sunflower printed 5 3/8 squares

Cut then sew the way shown on the video.

My Aunt found this way to be very easy.

WOW! What beautiful work, love the different shades of colors. Amazing work, I don't know anything about making quilts, I admire them all. Thank you for stopping by. Blessings...Lu

Those color combinations are great! I think the yellow and black is my favorite.

Love the blocks, don't know if I would have the patience for making a lot of them.
