I took the easy route I hand tied the quilt and only used my machine to piece the back.
As most of my reader know I am a thrifty quilter so this is one of the reason I decided to tie this quilt.
This quilt below was one that was given to me. It was in bad need of repair. So I decided it was way to much work. Here you can see where I am removing the top from the batting and back. I am going to put
My quilt top on this quilt and hand tie it. It really wasn't that hard to remove it had huge stitches in it.
The biggest reason I went for this. So I sit in a chair at the end of my bed and went to work.
Here I have Jesse's quilt laid out on top of the batting and backing. I left the old backing to give it more weight and used yellow fabric to back it to match the front of the quilt.
I am tying it with yellow string.
It took me two hours to hand tie. I took breaks but kept up with my time.
That was yesterday or I should say last night after I went out
to eat with my sister and made a trip to wally world for the string.
Today I hand stitched the binding down. I cheated on this one too. I cut the backing
around two and a half inches wider to use as binding, guessing at it.
It worked out well for me and now its done and ready to
give to my granddaughter.
Only one grand left to make a quilt for.
This top had been done only for two and a half years now.
I hope I get to the next one a lot sooner then that.

Well done. I am sure Jessie will treasure it. I haven't tied a quilt yet. It is something I have wanted to try though.
