Old Homes

This old house is still standing not far from where I live.....while out riding one Saturday I thought this would be something I could share this with my blogger.......as there are not too many of these left.....and so I stopped and got out to make the picture and saw the front door was open......I said to my sisters I think someone is still living here .....well I don't know for sure......hope I didn't invade someones privacy

this well house or spring house was located across the road......the only refrigeration they had

on down the road about a mile was another old house......I don't know how old they are but I would say very very old........Stopped in the middle of the road to get this one and I know no one lived here

closer view of  the same house.......how hard they must have had it back then....
but you know if the truth be know they were most likely happier then folks are today......
                                                                              God Bless Trish

Thank you for these pictures, they sure bring on memories! My folks had an old house that they stored grain in, it had beautiful old wallpaper on the walls. Then in later years, it made the local paper because the kudsu (sp?) had overtaken it. The house actually was beautiful to me in all of its stages of life.

Thanks for sharing the pictures, Trish. I love to look at things like that and wonder what life must have been like all those years ago.
I am very thankful, though, for the modern conveniences that make life easier! :)

Thanks for sharing those pictures. My granny lived in an old log cabin in North Carolina. She raised five kids in that cabin with no indoor plumbing or electricity. She passed away 64 years ago.

Its hard to believe those houses are not in a museum or a nature center for group tours by now! I can hardly imagine coming across one, and not wanting to venture inside! Charming!!!

Neat old homes, Trish.... That first one looks so cute. I'd love to meet you there and we could swing on their porch... ha....

I wish someone would buy the old homes and renovate them--keeping them in the same style.... The 'new' log homes are nice---but I still love the old ones.
Hugs,
Betsy

There are a lot of those kind of homes here too. I think they were a lot happier than most people are today with all the stuff. The more I get rid of the better I feel...

Thanks for the pictures. It reminded me of one that was my grandfathers. He used to take me to the corn crib that used to be a home, and get dried corn for the cows. It was set up on cinder blocks and you could see the ground through the cracks, and it smelled of that dried corn. Maybe you should start a book with old houses in it. My sister is thinking about a book with churches. She takes pictures of churches everywhere she goes. Thanks for the memories. There is a museum for old homes at the Franklinton, Louisiana county fair in October. It is called the Mile Branch settlement.

Hi Trish!! Oh, I love seeing these old homes and wonder about the families who lived in them. You're right, times were so very hard in those days!
Thanks for popping in to see me.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)
