Train Ride

This pass week was hubby's vacation so we went on a trip. I have always wanted to ride a train and a riverboat so that is what we did. We went to Bryson City NC to ride the train.

I leaned out the window to get these...on the left you can see kudzu it has taking over...

The top picture here is of what I call rhododendrons......well I wasn't sure so I looked it up to see what the different is in a rhododendron and mountain laurel.

Mountain Laurel or Rhododendron?

Mountain Laurel and Rhododendron are often confused with one another.  They do both grow in abundance here in our Smoky Mountains, and they often grow together.  They also look especially similar when they are not in bloom, with their long, dark green leaves.  The main differences between them are the time they bloom, and the blooms themselves.

We rode the open car and I think it was the best for what I wanted.
We met a nice young lady that offered to take our picture and so I returned the favor.
They took pictures on the trip, then offered to sell us one,we didn't it.

The train went up to the rafting and layed over for one and a half hours at the  Nantahala River - Nantahala Outdoor Center so people could ride in the boats alone the white water. They didn't take them into the real rough waters. This is the place where the 2013 white water rafting will take place in the US Olympics.
I will share the Video hubby made of the white water next.
